Ben Parry’s thank-you message

3 hustings, 400 postcards, hundreds of emails and phone calls, 40,000 flyers (allegedly!), countless doors knocked and meet-and-greets held, and 2403 votes!

Now that the dust has settled on our most successful General Election result ever in Eastleigh, I’d like to extend the most sincere thank you to all those who supported me over the last month.

Whether you voted for me, were kind enough to display a Green poster or a stake board, or if you were one of the wonderful souls who provided a donation to make our entering a candidate possible, you all made a vital contribution.

A huge thank you too to the small but beautifully formed few who gave up their time in all sorts of ways. Running in a General Election is a team effort and our success is very much a collective one. Just imagine what we can achieve next time around with more Eastleigh Greens involved!

Campaigning for public service as an MP is an intense, life-enriching experience. And in an age of self-entitlement, it’s a terrific reminder of the power of altruism and the need for empathy.

Please keep your eyes peeled for details of our next meeting, where we will be discussing ways of building on what we have achieved. It would be great to see some new faces, especially as we have a number of key positions to fill now that local Green legend Tracy Weeks is standing down as election agent and co-chair.

Thanks again, you wonderful bunch!

Yours in Green,

Ben
